British Columbia is home base for HVAC.Social and one of the trickiest provinces to plan HVAC social media for. A single company can serve homeowners who barely need heat in December and others who face a long, hard winter a few hours' drive away. The calendar has to know which audience each post is for.
The BC market and who is buying
BC HVAC demand clusters in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, the capital region around Victoria and Saanich, and the Okanagan around Kelowna, with smaller markets across the Interior and the North.
The buyers differ by area:
- Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley. A mix of older detached homes, townhouses and strata buildings. Many homeowners are weighing a heat pump against replacing a gas furnace, and strata councils add a layer of approval to some projects.
- Vancouver Island. Mild coastal winters and many older homes with baseboard or oil heat, which makes switching stories useful.
- The Okanagan and the Interior. Hot summers and cold winters, so cooling and heating both earn a full season on the feed.
- Northern BC. Long heating seasons and smaller audiences, where reputation and reliability matter more than reach.
Statistics Canada puts the 2023 primary heating split in BC at 42% natural gas and 36% electricity. A feed that only talks about heat pumps ignores a large share of homeowners, and one that only talks about furnaces misses the switching conversation.
Seasons and what to post when
BC's climate varies widely: the southwest coast has mild, wet winters, while the Interior and the North are much colder for longer. That splits the calendar.
| Period | Coast | Interior and North |
|---|---|---|
| Late August to September | Heat pump and furnace tune-ups, filter reminders after smoke | Furnace readiness, early tune-up push |
| October to February | Damp, comfort and efficiency content; fewer emergencies | No-heat readiness, frozen lines, fast-response posts |
| March to May | Replacement planning, heat pump education, rebate explainers | Replacement planning, AC pre-season checks |
| June to August | Cooling, smoke and indoor air content | Heat waves, AC demand, smoke content |
For multi-region companies, we split Meta audiences so a no-heat post aimed at Prince George never appears to someone in Victoria.
Regulators worth linking
HVAC companies in BC work under several bodies. We name and link them; we do not give compliance advice.
- Technical Safety BC licenses gas and electrical contractors and oversees natural gas, propane, electrical, boiler and refrigeration safety.
- SkilledTradesBC runs Skilled Trades Certification, which now applies to gasfitters, refrigeration and air conditioning mechanics, sheet metal workers and other mechanical trades.
- WorkSafeBC handles workers' compensation and workplace safety.
For social media this matters in two ways: licence and certification details belong in your bio and About content, and job-site video must always show safe work practices.
CleanBC programs, as of October 2026
BC rebates generate more homeowner questions on social media than almost any other topic, and they change often.
- Income-qualified households can get rebates on heat pumps, heat pump water heaters and envelope work through the CleanBC Better Homes Energy Savings Program. New requirements apply to invoices dated on or after July 6, 2026, with some rebates removed and narrower eligibility at some income levels.
- The Home Renovation Rebate Program is listed for households that are not income-qualified, but current amounts were not confirmed for this page.
Our rule for BC rebate posts: link the official page, date the post, and never promise a specific amount. Homeowners should confirm with the program before booking.
How we approach BC HVAC social media
- Split the audiences. Coast and Interior get separate calendar tracks and separate ad audiences where a company serves both.
- Talk to both fuels. Gas furnace owners and electric-heat households each get content that respects their situation.
- Prepare for smoke. Indoor air and filter posts sit in the swap bank, ready for the first smoke advisory.
- Treat strata as a separate audience. Content aimed at strata councils and property managers is drier and more process-focused.

Frequently asked questions
Should a Vancouver HVAC company post about furnaces at all?
Yes. Gas is still the primary heating energy for a large share of BC homes, including many in Metro Vancouver. The difference is timing and tone: coastal furnace content works best as reliability and efficiency content rather than emergency messaging.
Can we advertise CleanBC rebates on social media?
You can mention them, with care. The Energy Savings Program changed its requirements for invoices dated on or after July 6, 2026, so any rebate post should link the official Better Homes BC page and tell homeowners to confirm eligibility before they book.
Is wildfire smoke content worth posting?
In many BC markets, yes. Filter, ventilation and indoor air quality questions spike during smoke events. Keep posts practical and avoid health claims your company cannot support.
